Herrin house of hope
The Herrin House of Hope seeks to help the poor and needy in the Herrin area chart a new course for their lives and find hope for the future. It is a cooperative Christian ministry of Herrin's churches, businesses and ordinary people committed to giving hope for those who are struggling in life. We follow the example of Jesus who came with good news for the poor and freedom for the oppressed (Luke 4:18)
Our former minister, Scott Cody, was a founding Board member of the House of Hope and we have supported it financially from its inception. Additionally, their major fundraiser of the year is called "Fun Day" and we participate by hosting one of the food concessions, usually a dessert like a bunch of Dump Cakes and Ice Cream. We're always encouraging our members to volunteer to assist at Fun Day.
Another fun thing that we do is pick a week during the year to send a group of volunteers to serve the meals for the week. Their also always looking for volunteers, anyone who would like to help out is welcome!
